Basketball Game Preview: Summit Spartans vs. Independence Eagles

Summit is 1-9 against Independence since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Summit Spartans will welcome the Independence Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Summit is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Ravenwood 65-36. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Independence faced Franklin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Independence lost 42-22 to Franklin. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

This is the second loss in a row for Summit and nudges their season record down to 16-8. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
