Baseball Recap: Greenfield Comes Up Short

Pacific Grove hit Greenfield with a seven-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bruins came up short against the Breakers, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Breakers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-0 loss back in April.

Fabian Gonzalez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Greenfield has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Pacific Grove, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Greenfield will face off against Rancho San Juan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trailblazers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bruins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pacific Grove, they will challenge San Luis Obispo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Breakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
