Baseball Recap: Millard North Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Millard North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Omaha Westside Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since April 8th.

Collin Driffill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Millard North is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Driffill was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ripken Fleck was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The win snapped Millard North's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-11 record. As for Omaha Westside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Millard North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-4 victory against Creighton Prep on the 3rd. As for Omaha Westside, they have also already played their next game, a 16-6 defeat against Millard South on the 3rd.
