Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Hiltoppers vs. Litchfield Purple Panthers
The Hillsboro Hiltoppers lost against the Litchfield Purple Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hillsboro ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-36 walloping at the hands of the Purple Panthers.
Despite the loss, Hillsboro still got an impressive performance from Nathan Matoush, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jace Stewart was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Litchfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keenan Powell out in front who scored nine points along with four steals. Powell hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Victor Mcgill, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Hillsboro has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Litchfield, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-10.
Hillsboro won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Nokomis is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Litchfield, they will head out on the road to challenge the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
