Basketball Game Preview: Martinsburg Bulldogs vs. University Hawks

The Martinsburg Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the University Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Martinsburg beat Musselman 53-44. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Applemen are ranked 44th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, University entered their tilt with Musselman on Monday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 59-40 win over the Applemen.

University pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Martinsburg, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Martinsburg came up short against University in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, falling 51-45. Can Martinsburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
