Baseball Recap: Gig Harbor Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Gig Harbor is still undefeated this season after their game against Central Kitsap on Tuesday, but Central Kitsap came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Tides never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Tides have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Logan Pedersen's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayce Corley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Daniel Porras also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Gig Harbor pushed their record up to 17-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central Kitsap, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Gig Harbor will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
