Northwestern Regional and Nonnewaug are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Highlanders will welcome the Chiefs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Wednesday, Northwestern Regional came up short against Cheshire and fell 6-2.

Meanwhile, Nonnewaug suffered their closest defeat since April 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Newtown by a score of 5-3.

Jayden Cardenas was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Henry Keil was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Nonnewaug has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
