Football Game Preview: Mountain View Prep Stars vs. Powdersville Patriots + Official Tickets

The Mountain View Prep Stars will take on the Powdersville Patriots on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain View Prep comes in on three and Powdersville on seven.

Mountain View Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Crescent 50-49. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Stars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Tigers are ranked 92nd).

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Mak Anderson and Mason Evans. Anderson had a great game and threw for 332 yards and four TDs while completing 86.4% of his passes. Meanwhile, Evans was balling out in the loss, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 210 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Powdersville made easy work of Pendleton on Friday and carried off a 30-7 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Powdersville's win came from a few key players Mountain View Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nasir Waldrop, who rushed for 128 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 58 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Huggins, who picked up 116 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Powdersville's run defense was locked in: Pendleton could only muster 0.8 yards per carry. The Patriots didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Powdersville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Stephen Hudgins.

Powdersville's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Mountain View Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
