Basketball Recap: Americas Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Americas had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the El Dorado Aztecs 72-28. Given the Trail Blazers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Aztecs are ranked 662nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Hannah Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Hicks' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Americas' win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.1 points per game. As for El Dorado, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Coincidentally, Americas and El Dorado will both be playing Bel Air the next time they take the court. El Dorado will host Bel Air at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Americas will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
