Basketball Game Preview: Monrovia Wildcats vs. Torrance Tartars

The Monrovia Wildcats will take on the Torrance Tartars in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Monrovia beat St. Monica Academy 82-70. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Madden Caudillo was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Sayles, who went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Torrance hadn't done well against El Segundo recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Torrance walked away with a 53-43 win over El Segundo. While the Tartars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Torrance's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Monrovia, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
