Baseball Recap: Phoenix Christian Has No Trouble Against Cortez

Phoenix Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Cortez Colts with a sharp 11-0 victory on Wednesday. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Colts, too.

The team relied heavily on Joel Fajardo, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zach Brigowatz, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Phoenix Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cortez onlymanaged two hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Cortez and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Phoenix Christian will take on Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cortez, they will venture away from home to challenge Shadow Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
