Softball Recap: Prospect Takes a Loss

Prospect fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Saratoga on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saratoga Falcons by a score of 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Kendall Tabora spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bella Beltran was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Rauscher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Prospect's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Saratoga, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Prospect Panthers take on Christopher Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prospect's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Christopher's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Saratoga, they will square off against Leland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
