Baseball Game Preview: Glendora Tartans vs. Westview Wolverines

The Glendora Tartans will face off against the Westview Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Glendora sitting on six straight victories and Westview on five.

Glendora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Culver City 12-11. That's two games straight that the Tartans have won by just one run.

Westview came out on top against Carson on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Colts. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Kuy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Westview got a big performance out of Eli Irvine, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Zeke Gutierrez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 27-6. As for Glendora, their victory bumped their record up to 21-11.
