Preview: Freedom Eagles vs. Unity Reed Lions
The Freedom Eagles will be playing at home against the Unity Reed Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Freedom entered their tilt with Osbourn Park with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Freedom blew past Osbourn Park 75-47 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Freedom has managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Unity Reed had to settle for a 75-72 defeat against Rock Ridge on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (58), Unity Reed still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Unity Reed had strong showings from Charles Pargo, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks, and Julian Shahateet, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 assists. Shahateet scored a full 29.2% of Unity Reed's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayden NIchols, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Unity Reed were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Freedom's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Unity Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Freedom strolled past Unity Reed when the teams last played back in January by a score of 64-48. Will Freedom repeat their success, or does Unity Reed have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
