Basketball Recap: Sand Creek Comes Up Short

Sand Creek lost against Onsted back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Sand Creek Aggies had to suffer through a 46-16 loss at the hands of the Onsted Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Aggies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Wildcats are ranked 178th).

Faith Beardmore was Sand Creek's leading scorer, having posted six points. Beardmore also led the team in rebounds with six. Carley Allen took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Karlie Kimerer went supernova for Onsted, putting up 21 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Kimerer a new career-high. Mattie Hallenbeck was another key player, earning ten points and eight rebounds.

Sand Creek dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Onsted, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Sand Creek will challenge Erie-Mason at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Onsted, they have already played their next game, a 46-41 win against Hudson on the 11th.
