Basketball Recap: Wando's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Wando entered their contest against Berkeley on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wando Warriors fell just short of the Berkeley Stags by a score of 46-43. The Warriors were probably out for revenge after losing 56-41 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Wando still got an impressive performance from Malaya Mazyck, who went 6 for 9 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Mazyck has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabel Waite, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Leading Berkeley to victory were Aiyanna Moses and Alaina Carter. Moses scored 13 points, while Carter put up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Caldwell, who had three points.

Wando's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Berkeley, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Wando has already played their next matchup, a 48-40 victory against Goose Creek on the 20th. As for Berkeley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-44 win against Stratford on the 20th.
