Softball Game Preview: Decatur Red Raiders vs. Albertville Aggies

The Decatur Red Raiders will head out to square off against the Albertville Aggies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Decatur has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Decatur came up short against Hartselle last Thursday, falling 20-1. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josey Hendrix was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last eight games.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Albertville and Kate Duncan Smith DAR, and Kate Duncan Smith DAR kept the tradition alive. Albertville fell just short of Kate Duncan Smith DAR by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Aggies have suffered since March 29, 2024.

Albertville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Aaron, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Henley Kilpatrick also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Albertville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Decatur came up short against Albertville when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Decatur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
