Football Game Preview: New Berlin West Vikings vs. Wauwatosa West Trojans

The New Berlin West Vikings will face off against the Wauwatosa West Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Berlin West will be strutting in after a win while Wauwatosa West will be coming in after a loss.

If New Berlin West beats Wauwatosa West with 40 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Vikings walked away with a 40-29 victory over Waukesha South on Friday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Blackshirts are ranked 207th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Berlin West found their leader in freshman Evan Trudell, who rushed for 131 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

New Berlin West's run defense was locked in: Waukesha South could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The Vikings didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.3.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Wauwatosa West was not quite Waukesha North's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 24-19 to the Northstars. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win made it two in a row for New Berlin West and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Wauwatosa West, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

New Berlin West strolled past Wauwatosa West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 14-0. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
