Baseball Game Preview: Millennium Tigers vs. Corona del Sol Aztecs

For the second straight game, Millennium will face off against Corona del Sol. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Millennium is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Millennium is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Corona del Sol, who was ranked first at the time (Millennium was ranked 19th). The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Aztecs a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Not much got past David Sheppard, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Corona del Sol off the board. That hit marked the first that Sheppard allowed this season.

At the plate, Cy Buchberger was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Landon Swinheart, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Millennium's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Corona del Sol, they moved to 12-3 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
