El Rancho has gone 9-1 against Whittier recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The El Rancho Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Whittier Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. El Rancho's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

El Rancho fought the good fight in their overtime match against Santa Fe on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Whittier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of California. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1118th, while the Condors are ranked 320th).

El Rancho's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1-2 and their overall record down to 11-8-2. As for Whittier, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14-1.

El Rancho beat Whittier 4-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Rancho since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
