Basketball Recap: Peoria Heights Comes Up Short

Peoria Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 30th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 58-21 loss at the hands of the West Prairie Cyclones. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 67-31 to them when the teams met back in December of 2014, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Peoria Heights saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sylvia Thornton posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 66.7% of Peoria Heights' points, marking the 18th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Peoria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-29. As for West Prairie, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-23.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peoria Heights will face off against Henry-Senachwine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Prairie, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lewistown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
