Baseball Recap: Buckeye Comes Up Short at Home Against Greenway

Buckeye unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenway Demons on Wednesday. The Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Demons from their previous meeting back in April of 2018.

Buckeye got a good showing from Channing Murphy, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Murphy a new career-high.

On the hitting side, David Castaneda was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will take on Kellis at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenway, they will face off against Bradshaw Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
