Basketball Recap: Wenonah Beats Northside for Their 11th Straight Win

Wenonah entered their tilt with Northside on Monday with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. They took down the Northside Rams 52-36. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Rams are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wenonah was led to victory by Samarian Franklin and Aariyanah Parker. Franklin went 9 for 17 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards, while Parker dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Franklin's evening made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahja Tinsley, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Wenonah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Northside still got an impressive performance from Caroline Jones, who had nine points. Another player making a difference was Emma Bennett, who put up seven points.

Wenonah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Northside, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-4.

Wenonah will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Center Point at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Northside, they will venture away from home to challenge John Carroll Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
