Baseball Recap: Hand's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Hand had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-5 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Fairfield Prep Jesuits. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 last Saturday.

As for Fairfield Prep, they moved to 9-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Jesuits fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Hand since on Wednesday.

For Fairfield Prep's part, they got a good showing from Anthony Pavano, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Pavano has allowed since April 2nd.

On the hitting side, JJ Schachinger was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ventrelle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Coming up, Hand will head out on the road to challenge Guilford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairfield Prep, they will welcome Law at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
