Basketball Recap: Lemarion Houston's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastside over Lecanto

Eastside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Lecanto Panthers, falling 68-42. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Panthers are ranked 100th).

Eastside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being LeMarion Houston, who posted five points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jai'Vion Williams, who put up four points and eight rebounds.

It was another big night for Braylen Moore, who shot 5-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine steals for Lecanto. The contest was Moore's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Tipton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and four steals.

Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lecanto, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Eastside will be taking part in a tournament against Eustis at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. As for Lecanto, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Weeki Wachee at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th.
