Baseball Recap: Port Allen Extends Winning Streak to Five

Port Allen waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Slaughter Community Charter Knights 11-1. Considering the Pelicans have won 19 contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Joseph Jourdan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Jourdan was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Bodin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Port Allen: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaden Wolf, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Port Allen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Coming up, Port Allen will challenge North Iberville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pelicans are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they will face off against Delta Charter at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The Storm have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.95 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
