Recap: Ridgefield Park Scarlets vs. Cliffside Park Raiders
The Ridgefield Park Scarlets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cliffside Park. Ridgefield Park was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cliffside Park apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Cliffside Park found their leader in underclassman Jerelz Ortiz, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Ortiz hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Jamil Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Ridgefield Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Cliffside Park, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Ridgefield Park will be playing in front of their home fans against New Milford at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cliffside Park, they will head out on the road to face off against City College at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. City College presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cliffside Park in their respective states (City College is ranked 41st in Maryland, while Cliffside Park is ranked 161st in New Jersey).
