Football Recap: Ashford's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ashford hadn't done well against Straughn recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 22-10 victory over the Tigers. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 21-14 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Straughn still got an impressive performance from Tate Watson, who rushed for 125 yards and one score. Watson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Charlie Jordan also helped out as he racked up 123 rushing yards.

The victory (which was Ashford's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.3 points on average over those games. As for Straughn, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
