Santa Fe Indian is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the West Las Vegas Dons at 3:00 p.m. Santa Fe Indian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Santa Fe Indian is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Capitan on Saturday. The Braves came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-1.

Adrianne Herrera was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abrielle Herrera, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, West Las Vegas entered their tilt with Belen on Friday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Dons, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Malie Satete made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mattea Griego was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Tyra Horner was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Santa Fe Indian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Las Vegas, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Fe Indian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like West Las Vegas struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Fe Indian might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from West Las Vegas in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
