Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends La Habra's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact La Habra can now relate to. They fell just short of the Etiwanda Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Highlanders have suffered since March 21st.

Madison Payne was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

La Habra moved to 22-8 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Etiwanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

La Habra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Etiwanda, they will challenge Temescal Canyon at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
