Wills Handberry leads a balanced attack to beat Gatewood

The First Presbyterian Day Vikings can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 76-64 victory over Gatewood. The victory was all the more spectacular given First Presbyterian Day's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Gatewood is ranked 177th).

First Presbyterian Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wills Handberry, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Handberry has scored all season. Reynolds Handberry was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

First Presbyterian Day's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Gatewood, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Presbyterian Day will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Augusta Prep Day at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
