Softball Recap: Larkin Royals vs. Glenbard East Rams

Larkin had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 13-16 to make it five. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenbard East Rams. Royals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Wednesday.

Mackenzie Wemken spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Ali Herrick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Glenbard East, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

Looking ahead, Larkin is taking a road trip to take on West Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenbard East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Conant at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
