Baseball Recap: La Cueva Picks Up 13th Straight Win on the Road

La Cueva had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Manzano Monarchs. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 11 runs.

La Cueva pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Manzano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. La Cueva will challenge rival Eldorado at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bears 3.8, the Golden Eagles 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Manzano is set to square off against their familiar foe Sandia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
