Softball Recap: Izard County Victorious

After losing to Sloan-Hendrix the last time they met, Izard County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Greyhounds on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Reese Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Kacee Morehead was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Layla Penland was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.

Izard County's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Sloan-Hendrix, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
