Basketball Recap: Rocky River Skates Past Independence with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rocky River's strategy against Independence on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rocky River Ravens blew the Independence Patriots out of the water with a 54-19 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Ravens had established a 26 point advantage.

Leading Rocky River to victory were Jade Bell and MaKenzie Michael. Bell dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 steals, while Michael dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Michael also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Camille Montgomery was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

With the victory, Rocky River broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-5. As for Independence, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.

Rocky River has already played their next contest (against Garinger), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Independence is taking a road trip to square off against Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Independence surely won't give up without a fight.
