Basketball Recap: Hampton Christian Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Hampton Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to the StoneBridge Cavaliers 32-28. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hampton Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Mahdy Sigler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Sigler is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Jayla Crosby was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Leading StoneBridge to victory were Claire Bruseke and Sarah Busby. Bruseke posted ten points and six steals, while Busby earned eight points and three steals. Those six steals gave Bruseke a new career-high.

Hampton Christian Academy's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for StoneBridge, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Greenbrier Christian Academy the next time they take the court. StoneBridge will host Greenbrier Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hampton Christian Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
