Softball Recap: Irwin County Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Irwin County had won seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 19-2 to make it eight. Everything went their way against Charlton County as they made off with a 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for Irwin County, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Gordon made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sailor Mixon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Brynlee Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Charlton County, their record now sits at 12-11-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Charlton County's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harley Roddenberry, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Irwin County is taking a road trip to challenge Fitzgerald at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians are facing the Purple Hurricane at the right time seeing as the Purple Hurricane are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Charlton County, they will be playing at home against Ware County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.77 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
