Volleyball Game Preview: Gateway Olympians vs. Overland Trailblazers

The Gateway Olympians will square off against the Overland Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gateway came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Hinkley. The Olympians have struggled against the Thunder recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

While Gateway was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 25-23, 25-0.

Overland had won five straight games dating back to last season and Trevor O'Shea did his part to make it six last Thursday. Overland put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 3-0 victory for which the team can thank O'Shea, who had seven digs and seven aces. What's more, he posted three assists, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Overland walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-8, 25-23.

Overland pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Gateway, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Gateway skirted past Overland 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Gateway repeat their success, or does Overland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
