After each having a week off, the Wesleyan Wolves and the Fellowship Christian Paladins will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wesleyan comes in on three and Fellowship Christian on five.

Last Friday, Wesleyan took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-7 win over King's Ridge Christian. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wolves just coasted through the last quarter.

Maddox Gartland was his usual excellent self, rushing for 180 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Carter Hayes did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 91 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wesleyan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fellowship Christian). They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Mount Pisgah Christian 70-0. Given the Paladins' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Patriots are ranked 413th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fellowship Christian's win came from a few key players Wesleyan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonathan Granby, who rushed for 81 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 114 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Another back making a difference was Cj Givers, who gained 115 total yards.

Wesleyan's record now sits at 6-2. As for Fellowship Christian, their record is now 6-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wesleyan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fellowship Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 220.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Wesleyan lost to Fellowship Christian on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
