Baseball Recap: Liberal Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Liberal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Dodge City Demons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redskins have posted since April 22nd.

Alexander Schwindt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Schwindt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kye Morris was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marco Alonso, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Liberal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dodge City only managed ten hits.

Liberal's record is now 8-13. As for Dodge City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberal will challenge Hays on Thursday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Redskins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dodge City, they will square off against Eisenhower at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
