Softball Game Preview: Central Lafourche Trojans vs. Port Allen Pelicans

The Central Lafourche Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Port Allen Pelicans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Port Allen took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Central Lafourche, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Central Lafourche beat De La Salle 13-9.

Meanwhile, Port Allen fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against False River on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gators by a score of 25-24. The Pelicans haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Marsha Shirley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring five runs and stealing ten bases while going 6-for-6. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (three). Courtney Courville was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Port Allen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .450 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Central Lafourche's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Port Allen, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Central Lafourche took their win against Port Allen in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2. Does Central Lafourche have another victory up their sleeve, or will Port Allen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
