The Langley Saxons will square off against the Lake Braddock Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Langley 2.5, Lake Braddock 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Langley barely beat Herndon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Saxons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 13-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Saxons, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Norah Jacques made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Langley got a big performance out of Mina Britt, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Britt has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Hohenthaner, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Langley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herndon only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Lake Braddock came up short against West Springfield on Friday and fell 5-1. The matchup marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Lake Braddock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Radha Samuel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The victory was the third in a row for Langley, bringing their record up to 10-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lake Braddock, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Langley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Braddock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Langley came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Braddock in their previous matchup back in June of 2019, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Saxons repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
