New Athens fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pinckneyville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-5. The Yellow Jackets' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brodie Sieber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

New Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Pinckneyville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-14.

Coincidentally, New Athens and Pinckneyville will both be playing Marissa/Coulterville the next time they take the field. The Yellow Jackets will host the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
