Softball Game Preview: Capital Bruins vs. Glacier Wolfpack

Capital and Glacier are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bruins will challenge the Wolfpack at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Glacier will be up against a hot Capital squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 15. The Bruins blew past Hellgate 16-6 on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Jaiden Grooms, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madi Emmert, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Glacier put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Big Sky.

Olivia Warriner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Warriner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cazz Rankosky was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Glacier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Capital's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Glacier, their record now sits at 3-0.

Capital came out on top in a nail-biter against Glacier when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
