Softball Recap: Great Bridge Wildcats vs. Kempsville Chiefs
Great Bridge lost to Kempsville back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Bailey Bliven spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cassie Kleier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Hannah Ferrell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Great Bridge's record is now 10-3. As for Kempsville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Bridge will square off against Ocean Lakes at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.3, the Dolphins 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Kempsville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bayside at 5:00 p.m.
