Game recap: Clovis West can't hold onto lead against Edison

After trading leads three times, Edison (Fresno, Calif.) snatched the lead for good when Blake Wright ran for a touchdown in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over Clovis West (Fresno, Calif.) 54-35.

The Tigers led 21-14 at halftime, but the Golden Eagles recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 8:00 remaining in the third.

Edison expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. EHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Wright touchdown run.

Clovis West's Taylor Bustamante played well. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.

Wright was the top performer for the Tigers. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.



Edison also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 31-14.

The victory was a step in the right direction for EHS, which was coming off a 41-30 defeat at the hands of Crenshaw in its previous game. The loss comes after Clovis West defeated Bullard 28-12 last week.

Edison (3-2) will play a County/Metro game against Sanger next week, while Clovis West (1-4) will take on Clovis North in a Tri-River game.
