Basketball Game Preview: Flushing Red Devils vs. Francis Lewis Patriots

The Flushing Red Devils will head out on the road to take on the Francis Lewis Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Flushing has struggled recently with ten defeats in a row, while Francis Lewis will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Friday, Flushing was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to Jamaica. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly four points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Francis Lewis). They blew past Lane 58-21 last Wednesday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Knights are ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Francis Lewis pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35 points. As for Flushing, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Flushing came up short against Francis Lewis in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 37-31. Can Flushing avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
