Baseball Game Preview: Gardner Wildcats vs. Ayer Shirley Panthers

Gardner is 0-3 against Ayer Shirley since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Wildcats will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Gardner has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gardner came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Maynard, falling 13-2.

Meanwhile, Ayer Shirley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of West Boylston.

Ayer Shirley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Manchester, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. Matty Marchand was another, earning one RBI and two stolen bases.

Gardner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Ayer Shirley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
