Softball Recap: Velva/Drake/Anamoose Aggies vs. Carrington Cardinals
Velva/Drake/Anamoose not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Carrington Cardinals a 9-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aggies.
Grace Balas made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Balas was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Leah Volochenko was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Abigail Hudkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Velva/Drake/Anamoose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carrington only posted an OBP of .059.
