Baseball Recap: Lake Brantley Falls Short of Lake Mary in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lake Brantley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Lake Mary Rams by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Elijah Guzman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Lake Brantley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Mauger, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lake Brantley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for Lake Mary, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Lake Brantley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Mary, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Winter Park at 6:00 p.m. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
